CNC Lathe

I going to talk about what a CNC Lathe is all about. First of all lets familiarize with what is a lathe. A lathe is a machine tool which rotates the workpiece on its axis to perform works such as cutting, grinding, knurling, face turning and deformation. A typical Lathe looks exactly as the one on the side. But the size of Lathe could vary depending upon the load of the work piece to be loaded on it. Lathe mainly includes Headstock  Tailstock, Spindle and Bed. The Spindle is to hold and rotate the workpiece which is placed co-axially to the axis passing through the centers of spindle and the Tailstock. The axis of the workpiece should exactly coincide with that of the Spindle. This can be done with the help of Dial Gauge which is used to place the workpiece exactly parallel to the bed of the Lathe. A Dial Gauge looks like the one in the photo. It has a
magnetic stand which can be used to make it stand. The probe at the end of Dial is made to come in contact with the outer diameter of the workpiece in order to measure the variation. Then the workpiece is loaded on the lathe with the help of Faceplate present on the side of Headstock. After the workpiece has been loaded the tool required to perform the job is loaded on the Tool rest. The Tool rest can be moved from the Spindle to the Tailstock. Thereby, getting the job on the workpiece done. That's all for today guys. For any queries please mail to my email yaswanthvarma22@gmail.com .
